FAQ

  • WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Permanent cosmetics is a safe and natural-looking alternative to the expense and daily routine of applying makeup upon waking in the morning and often times throughout the day. It is a state-of-the-art technique of permanently applying makeup via intradermal micropigmentation. Properly applied by an experienced technician, permanent makeup will be more natural and realistic in appearance as compared to conventional cosmetics.

  • HOW PERMANENT IT IS?

The duration of permanent or semi-permanent makeup depends on the depth of needle penetration during the procedure. Skin type and after-care are determining factors in achieving lasting results. Clients need to follow all instructions carefully so that their makeup color can last for several years. Touch-ups are recommended every few years as necessary.

  • DOES THE PROCEDURE HURT?

Comfort levels vary from person to person but its benefits outweigh far any discomfort you may experience. Some clients feel no sensation at all, some say it tickles and others feel only mild discomfort. Most people report feeling nervous or anxious at first, but once the procedure has started they soon realize that it’s not nearly what they were afraid of.

  • HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Total time is approximately about 1,5 hours for eyebrows, 1,5 hours for eyeliner and 2 hours for lips. Touch-up takes usually 1 hour.

  • HOW DO I WISELY CHOOSE MY PERMANENT MAKEUP ARTIST?

Technician should be licensed. Always look at the Artists’ work. This will be displayed in gallery. Make sure that their photos are their own. If their pictures are sloppy their work may be also sloppy. Ask them how they sanitize their work space and how frequently they do procedures. It is wise to ask them what brand of pigments they use.

  • HOW DO I EXPRESS MY SHAPE AND COLOR?

Bring photos! This helps ensure that you and your permanent cosmetics artist are on the same page. With your approval, I will figure out the best shape for your face before we begin your procedure. Please note that extra dark thick lines may require multiple appointments.

  • WHAT WILL I LOOK LIKE AFTER MY PROCEDURE?

Mild redness and swelling may be apparent for the first couple of days, however normal activity can be resumed immediately following the procedure. Immediately after and for the first few days the color intensity will appear significantly darker and more intense but will subsequently lighten in time.

  • WILL I NEED TO TAKE OFF FROM WORK?

No. There is only minimum swelling and redness. A cool damp wash cloth can be used to reduce swelling and an antibiotic ointment should be used for several days during the healing process.

  • WHAT IS THE HEALING PERIOD LIKE?

For approximately 5-7 days following the procedure, you will need to apply a thin film of ointment to the procedure site. During this healing period, you will notice the color soften into your skin.

  • HOW MANY APPLICATIONS ARE NEEDED?

Generally, two applications are needed in order to achieve full satisfaction with your desired look. However, many of my clients are fully satisfied with just one application. If a second application is desired, it is scheduled approximately 6 weeks after the initial procedure.

  • I'M ALLERGIC TO MOST MAKEUP, ESPECIALLY EYE MAKEUP. WILL PERMANENT MAKEUP BE SAFE FOR ME?

Absolutely. Many women choose permanent eyeliner as the solution to their sensitive eyes. Say “good-bye” to watery, runny eyes and smeary makeup forever!

  • CAN I HAVE LASER WORK DONE AFTER PERMANENT COSMETICS?

If proper precautions aren’t taken, lasers can burn the pigment and change the color to black. Be especially careful if laser is done around the lips.

  • CAN I GET COSMETIC SURGERY IF I HAVE PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Absolutely! Properly placed Permanent Makeup will not be affected. If you are planning on getting any lip injections, it is wise to get your Permanent Makeup done first as it will cut back on the discomfort.

  • WHAT EFFECTS THE LONGEVITY OF MY PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Your age, skin tone, exfoliation, extreme cold (sun or heat) exposure, tanning bed, body chemistry, circulation changes, hormone changes and the degree of care taken.
